The Abridged NPFL 2022/2023 season enters its week8 today, as Sunshine Stars go away to Uyo to trade tackles with Dakkada FC in group B.
The Edith Agoye tutored side sits currently in 4th place on the group B table, a win today in Uyo over Dakkada FC, would put the Akure side in a good stead to push for a championship spot at the end of the season.
Sunshine Stars coach and captain of the team are optimistic that they can get a decent result against Dakkada FC, who presently are bottom of the NPFL group B table, having lost 5 of their 7 opening fixtures with 4 points.
Coach Edith Agoye says they aren’t going to underrate their opponent in the week8 fixture. Saying they are at Uyo to pick up maximum points.
“We are prepared and won’t underate our opponent, all things been equal we should have a decent result”.
While Sunshine Stars’ captain believes the team has the potential to be table toppers at the end of the season. He says the players are motivated and are driven to give their best.
According to the captain Ejike Uzoechi: “Yes we can rise to the top of the group , it’s football , anything can happen , we are well motivated ahead of this game and we are all ready to give our best”.
The week8 NPFL match kicksoff by 4pm today (Wednesday) at the Nest of Champions in Uyo.
A win for Sunshine Stars takes them to 15 points on the group B table.
