The Federal Capital Territory will come alive on Saturday, November 14, 2026, for the 3rd edition of the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon.
The 21-kilometre race is organized by Nilayo Sports Management Limited and has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading road races, attracting elite athletes, recreational runners, fitness enthusiasts and corporate teams from across Nigeria and abroad.
Organizers said registration opened on Friday, September 18, 2026, online and at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja, urging prospective runners to register early to allow for adequate training and preparation.
The race sustains the partnership between sole sponsor, PremiumTrust Bank and Nilayo Sports Management Limited, a collaboration that has raised the profile of the event since its debut in 2024.
Managing Director/CEO of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Mrs Yetunde Olopade, said the 2026 edition will build on past successes and meet international standards with improved logistics and organization.
Olopade said this year’s edition will focus on athlete welfare, improved route management, entertainment zones along the course, enhanced medical support, security, and a more immersive experience for spectators and families.
Beyond competition, the half marathon has become a platform for promoting healthy living, fitness culture, community bonding and sports tourism in the nation’s capital. Its route showcases some of Abuja’s iconic landmarks and scenic corridors, blending sport with city pride.
The event also provides Nigerian long-distance runners a world-class platform to compete against international athletes, gain ranking points and prepare for continental and global championships.
Since its debut, the race has boosted Nigeria’s road racing ecosystem, inspired thousands of young Nigerians to embrace running, and created economic opportunities for vendors, volunteers and the hospitality sector in Abuja.
