The Lagos State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) will hold an Extraordinary Congress on Friday, October 23, 2026.
The Congress is scheduled to hold by 12:00 p.m. at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The Chairman of the Lagos SWAN Caretaker Committee, Patrick Omorodion, who disclosed this, said the meeting is the first in a series of events aimed at repositioning the association after years of leadership vacuum.
According to Omorodion, the mandate of the Caretaker Committee is clear — to reorganize the chapter, unite all members under one umbrella, and conduct a credible and transparent election to usher in a new executive.
He called on all members to attend the crucial meeting in large numbers to chart a pathway for a united Lagos SWAN.
“This meeting is very crucial. Far-reaching decisions will be taken. We are calling on all members to stand up and be counted at this crucial moment where we are restructuring a Lagos SWAN that works for all members,” Omorodion said.
He affirmed that the Caretaker Committee has no intention of staying a day beyond its mandate and urged members to join hands in writing the next chapter of Lagos SWAN.
