23-year old para Nigerian athlete from Oyo State, Olasupo Temitope Hassan, has won two gold medals at the First African Admiral Porbeni Canoeing Competition held at Jabi Boat Club, Abuja recently.
The tournament involved five African countries, namely Senegal, Tunisia, Ghana, Sao Tome and Nigeria.
Team Nigeria clinched the first position with 21 medals; 14 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze. Behind Nigeria, Sao Tome came second while Tunisia secured the third position.
According to a press statement signed by Tunde Ajibike, Media & Communications Directorate, Oyo State Sports Council, Olasupo Hassan had before this feat won two gold medals at the 2022 National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State.
The para-athlete is expected to participate at the National Trial for the qualifying Olympics taking place in Germany. This is scheduled to hold on August 17 this year, the statement revealed.
