Dear Chief Henry Oladele Ajomale and Esteemed Leaders,
With the utmost respect and deep sense of responsibility, I write this letter not in defiance but in pursuit of truth, equity, and justice. This is not anchored in loyalty to any single leader, but as the voice of many loyal party members who have remained committed to our great party for over two decades—yet continue to be neglected.
Since 1999, some of us have walked the path of loyalty without expectations—fighting, sacrificing, and standing for the party in its darkest hours. We did so not because we were promised positions but because we believed in the cause and ideals of the party. However, recent developments in Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II compel us to speak because silence now equals betrayal of our own sacrifices.
In the 2023 general elections, we gave everything. We put our lives on the line, battled the opposition, endured sleepless nights, and abandoned our personal comfort to secure victory for the party. Many of us worked under harsh conditions, while those who now enjoy the benefits of our labour remained in the shadows or stayed in comfort zones.
One painful example is a former opposition member who crossed over to our party. Despite spending less than a year with us, he was rewarded with a position as Supervisor for four years, and recently, as Councillor representing Ajao Estate Ward.
Shockingly, some party leaders even fought hard to make him the leader of the 6th Legislative Arm—a move that completely disregarded the contributions of long-serving, loyal members. But as God would have it, he did not emerge. Still, the fact that such a campaign was even considered speaks volumes about the injustice and disregard faced by grassroots loyalists.
What message are we sending to the foundation of our party? That history, sacrifice, and loyalty mean nothing unless you have a godfather? That new entrants—who neither know the colour of our sweat nor the weight of our burdens—can reap what they never sowed?
Let it be clear: this is not a threat, nor is it a rebellion. It is a call for conscience. A demand for inclusion. A reminder that without the loyalty of the grassroots, there would be no glory for the top.
To those leaders enabling this injustice, I offer only one prayer: that whenever your children labour and sacrifice, may they never be sidelined for strangers. If you can say “Amen” to that, then perhaps you understand the pain we feel.
Chief Ajomale, as a respected father figure and pillar of our party, I plead with you—temper justice with mercy. Let our sacrifices be acknowledged. Let our loyalty be rewarded. Let our voices be heard. If we lose the foundation, we risk collapsing the entire house before 2027.
With utmost sincerity,
Abdulsalam Olasunkanmi
