The family of late Nigerian football legend, Christian Chukwuemeka Chukwu, popularly known as ‘Chairman,’ has announced that his body will be laid to rest on Friday, August 22, 2025.
The renowned sports ambassador and Member of the Federal Republic, MFR, in a statement put out by his teammate in the historic 1989 Nations Cup winning Green Eagles, Segun Odegbami; will be welcomed back home in Enugu, where arrangements for a national befitting burial have already begun.
It says plans are underway for a special event in Lagos, where ‘Chairman’ Chukwu played most of his national team football, to enable fans and friends who may not be able to travel to Enugu for the funeral to pay their last respects. More detailed information about the event will be made available to the public in due course.
