Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced the withdrawal of the criminal complaint against Ms. Comfort Emmanson, who was involved in an unruly incident on an Ibom Airline flight on August 10, 2025.
Keyamo conferred with Ibom Airline to withdraw the complaint against Emmanson, citing her exhibition of “great remorse for her conduct” when giving her statement to the police in the presence of her lawyer.
The statement says the Commissioner of Police for Airport Command and the police prosecutor will facilitate Emmanson’s release from Kirikiri Prisons within this week.
That the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) have agreed to lift the lifetime flying ban imposed on Emmanson.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will reduce KWAM 1’s flight ban to one month. FAAN will work with him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol.
The licenses of Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba will be restored after a one-month ban and mandatory professional re-appraisal.
Keyamo directed relevant aviation agencies to hold a retreat next week to retrain security personnel on handling disruptive passengers.
While, Airlines will review staff conduct towards passengers.
The minister emphasized that these decisions were made on “compassionate grounds” while stressing that safety and security in the aviation sector are taken seriously.
